About

I’m an unpublished writer (who writes mostly Historical Fantasy and Contemporary Fantasy) and enthusiastic reader (of practically any genre).

I started Novelish because I wanted a blog to post about books (previously, I found myself writing increasingly long mini-reviews in emails to friends), creative writing (in case any of the things I’ve learned are helpful to others), book and publishing news (if I think it’s interesting), and occasionally myself.

I’m writing on Novelish semi-anonymously – at least for now – under the name of Thorn

There is no meaning behind that.

I may reveal exactly who I am at some later date, or I may not. There’s no reason to keep my identity a secret, as I’m not rich or famous.

But, there’s no point to tell people exactly who I am for the same reasons. You won’t have heard of me. A real name would be meaningless.

Congratulations on the launch, and on deciding to do it before it’s “perfect” (whatever the hell that means). And thanks for including WC&S in your list of links.

  2. Thorn says:

    Thanks, Roy!

Maybe “perfect” was the wrong word – it’s just that there are some things I’d like to add or change that I haven’t had the time to do yet. Little stuff, mostly. But I’m glad I didn’t wait, because it’d have probably dragged on forever.

Hello and welcome! Congrats on your official opening!

You sound like you are very young. All the more reason to congratulate you on getting this site up. I wish I were organized enough to keep an annotated list of every book I read. I work at a public library where the average patron charges out about 30 books a year; the database says I have charged out 2474 books in ten years. I don’t finish reading them all; life is too short to read a book you don’t love.

    Oh dear, do I?

That may be partly because I’ve been trying to write in a somewhat simplified, “web-friendly” way, bearing in mind the average person only skims text they see on the screen (there are many articles on that; can’t seem to find a link to one now).

I also don’t read or write much nonfiction at all, so all this is very new to me.

Of course, it could be because I am what a lot of people would call young – though perhaps not very.

But, thanks for stopping by. I’m sure you didn’t mean for me to analyze your comments nearly this much.

It’s seems simple to say I like your blog, but I simply do. Thank you!

  7. All in all a happy and impressive endeavor. Keep going and I’ll keep reading. Should you feel like it, I’d love it if you peeked in a on me.

I am reading such an expressive and thoughtful ‘about’ for the first time. It promises about great future posts to come!
