Read in 2007, visual edition

A few days ago I was looking through the list of books that I’ve read this year, and it occured to me that it would be interesting to make a collage of the covers.

This image is going to be rather large:

Read in 2007 - book covers

Dec. 30 update: two books I forgot about, and one I read since making this post:

More books

It’s a little embarrassing that there is nothing written before 1900 here. I read the first half of Clarissa earlier this year, and I’m reading Anna Karenina now. But I haven’t finished either of those.

My reading goals for 2008:

  • Finish 100 books, which I really could have done this year if I hadn’t slowed down toward the end.
  • Read the majority of books that I own but have not yet read. (There are a lot of them.)
  • Read more classics.

My list of books to read is already horrendiously long, but adding to it is kind of an irresistable urge for me. If you know of something I might like, please do leave a comment.

  1. I absolutely love this idea. In fact, I might just “borrow” it. Are you on Goodreads, by any chance? We read a couple of the same books this year…

  2. I just find it amazing that we have the exact reading taste. :)

Colleen - You’re welcome to borrow it! If you post yours publicly somewhere, I’d enjoy seeing it. (Edit: saw it via your website link.) I wasn’t on Goodreads before today, but I had a look at the site and I really like it so far. Profile here: http://www.goodreads.com/profile/thorn I’ve added everything I read this year.

Linda - That is strange, given the variety of the books I’ve read (historical fic, fantasy, mysteries/thrillers, some YA novels). Since we seem to have the same reading taste, is there anything you’d recommend? :)

  4. There’s some great books in there, and I have read quite a few of those as well!

    Great idea!

If you liked Twilight and the Holly Black books, you might like Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr. It’s a YA UrbanFantasy, totally in the same thread as those. I’m on a Wicked Lovely fan forum often, and almost everybody is also a Stephanie Meyer or Holly Black fan.

Thanks, Maria. :) I thought Twilight was a horribly written (if somewhat entertaining) book, to be honest - I reviewed it a while ago - but I love Holly Black’s novels, so I’ll give Wicked Lovely a try when I can.
